Be An Adventurer

Again, this is for Viva Las Vegas Stamps March challenge,  twilight & dusk, the northern lights, dancing and twinkling stars, silhouettes and trees.
I has two new tissue papers, one very bold stripes and the other a gold swirl pattern. I started with the bold paper and then added gesso. The next layer was pieces of the second tissue.
The stars were added with texture paste through a stencil and then embossing powder added on top. This was a precise way to add the gold powder but I was still happy with the outcome. Once this dried, I stamped the VLV stars. These are turning out to be a very well used stamp!

The trees stamps are by Crafty Individuals and the sentiment stamp is another VLV stamp - both stamped on tissue and then added with matte medium.

Mixed Media Moods - February Again

Feeling super inspired this month so have a second creation for this challenge. While my inspiration came from the top middle segment of the mood board, I did end up with some similarities, with the vertical line created by the jute and sari ribbon.

I wanted to incorporate the star motif and so used a self drawn and cut star that I have used before and really like. The centre of the cut out is used as the star in my other piece.
The texture paste pieces took a bit of work as they lost their shimmer as I hadn´t noticed that the texture paste was matt, so I added more and then sprayed with a fixative to stop it moving. I then wasn´t sure about the big piece so cut it up. I possibly over did the mica paste and I would have liked the star to stand out more, but it is what it is and overall I´m happy with another interesting creation and all the textures.
And ... another video...

Autumn Card

A simple card for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Autumn.

The background had been sitting for a while, having been made with left over paints and texture paste. I stamped the leaves and coloured them with Inktense pencils then added the script stamp.

Die Cut - Bat & Tree

This is one of the self-drawn, self-cut designs I made while working on ideas for Paper Arty's Challenge - Die Cuts.
Initially I thought it was a bit of a failure and put it to one side. The ink I had used in the background had soaked into the paper, the tree looked a mess after I coloured it with a black Gelato and I couldn't really see it going anywhere.
Then I remember The Craft Barn challenge that needed to include a bat and thought that the dark mood could work for that. Now the challenge is called 'Pumpkin' but it does say "The only rule is there must be a bat."
I added some background stamping, darkened the borders with Stabilo ALL and ink, then mounted it in a small black journal. I finished it with borders of patterned paper and a paper scrap with texture paste stencilled onto it. As often happens, if we persevere, things work out in the end!
